Ewaste Recycling

It’s estimated there are over 9 million computers in Australia with more than 2 million set to enter the market this year. The Home Computer and its peripherals - printers, faxes and monitors are fast becoming a major waste disposal challenge.

This electronic waste contains hazardous substances such as lead and mercury. When this waste is disposed into landfills, the hazardous substances in this material have the potential to leach into the environment.

When products arrive at our premises, the items are assessed and tested for their ability to be reused or refurbished. Recycled components from demanufactured boxes are then added to stock for purchase. Components damaged beyond repair or contain hazardous material are shipped to waste merchants for environmental disposal.

As there is a lack of demand for CRT monitors, monitors that cannot be re used will be sent to be destroyed. It does however, incur a recycling cost.

To assist with these costs we now ask for a $5 per monitor, $2 per computer/laptop/fax and $1 per small printer/scanner/mobile phone.

Within the Shire of Yarra Ranges we pickup at no extra fee, outside the Shire and within Melbourne Metro, a extra $10 fee will apply.

A tax deductible receipt for any donations will be provided for you.
